My brother Donny returned from Afghanistan last Friday morning!!!

Going to his homecoming was honestly the coolest thing I have ever done! Shane, the kids, and I drove up to Utah to welcome him home! We got up at 4 a.m. Friday morning and got the the National Guard Airfield about 5:15 a.m. Donny's plane was supposed to land at 5:45...but shocking enough...the Army was early! I got a text from him saying he was on the ground just after we arrived!

So...just to set the scene for you all, we were in this huge hanger. There was the big American Flag hanging (in this picture) and there was a band. They started playing, God Bless the USA, and then the hanger doors opened and there was their plane! Now...it was absolutely FREEZING...and it was even snowing a little bit, but I don't think anyone cared at that moment! They had caution tape which made an isle for all of the soldiers to walk down between their
families and friends, which was really cool. They also had a
tunnel of flags being held by other soldiers for them to walk through just as they got off the plane.

As each soldier got off the plane, they were given a yellow rose. I was so excited when I saw Donny walking down the isle!!! Of course I ran under the tape to give him the biggest hug ever! As you can see, my kids were pretty excited to see him too!

I'm so proud of him and of the sacrifices he has made to serve our country! I am also SO glad that he is home! We have missed him!!!
